If for any reason your power supply is interrupted, and the interruption is caused by us, you may be able to make a claim for compensation. If you believe you qualify to make a claim, please select from the list below to find out the eligibility criteria, the claims process and how to apply.

Extended Outage Payment Scheme Eligibility Criteria

Please read the following eligibility criteria

Householders affected by power outages lasting 12 hours or more may be eligible to receive an $120 payment from Horizon Power in recognition of the inconvenience caused. The payment is available to electricity account holders in Western Australia that consume less than 50 MWh of electricity per year (this equates to electricity bills less than $10,500 per year).

You can check your average daily consumption in “units” by looking at the front of your electricity bill – 50 MWh is approximately 137 units of consumption per day over the year. The under-50 MWh threshold includes most houses and small businesses.

Notification of Planned Power Interruption Eligibility Criteria

The payment is available to electricity account holders in Western Australia that consume less than 50 MWh* of electricity per year (this equates to electricity bills less than $8,000 per year).

Customer Damage or Crop Loss Claim Conditions

If you experience loss or damage to property or crops resulting from an outage or fault in your electricity supply caused by our negligence, you can submit a claim to us for assessment.

Please note, we are unable to compensate for employee wages and lost income. We are also unable to compensate for any damage if the power interruption was attributed to events beyond our control, such as adverse weather conditions, vandalism, motor vehicle collisions with power poles and other such events.

Please retain all damaged items until this matter is resolved. You must provide all supporting documentation including any receipts, repair reports and/or photographs of any damage. Claims for any property damage or loss that are submitted without supporting evidence will not be considered.

All claims must be submitted within three months of the power interruption.
