Why is there a limit on the solar capacity for each town?

Horizon Power is committed to using and promoting renewable energy. To safeguard the quality of electricity to each community, we have set a limit on how much rooftop solar our electricity system can accommodate in each town without disrupting supply to our customers. This is called hosting capacity.

In a small number of towns, we are no longer able to approve applications as the town’s hosting capacity limit has been reached.

In other towns, we require new solar installations to be provisioned for Feed-In Management (FIM).

Horizon Power acknowledges the Traditional Custodians throughout Western Australia and their continuing connection to the land, waters and community. We pay our respects to all members of the Aboriginal communities and their cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.
