Pilot program to deliver energy coaching for vulnerable customers

November 19 2021

Horizon Power is pleased to partner with Synergy and Energy Policy WA (EPWA) to deliver the Household Energy Efficiency Scheme (HEES) pilot program. The program is a commitment under the Western Australian Climate Policy, announced by the State Government on Tuesday 9 November 2021.

The scheme seeks to reduce energy hardship by working with vulnerable families to better understand their energy behaviour and develop practical, hands-on solutions. The program will benefit around 10,000 households across Western Australia over the next four years - 1,000 of which are located in Horizon Power's service area.

In the first phase of the pilot, our Energy Coach program will be offered to a select group of vulnerable households in Port Hedland that experience higher than average energy use. The program will be offered in partnership with local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Bloodwood Tree, to leverage their extensive experience in supporting disadvantaged and at-risk communities in the region.

We understand there are unique challenges to living in regional WA which can lead to higher energy bills and contribute significantly to cost of living pressures. Learnings from the pilot will ensure we develop an impactful energy behaviour program that speaks to the unique needs of our customers across the vast and diverse regions we serve.
