Connect a new power supply

Request a new permanent or temporary connection for your building site.

Apply for a new meter

If you need a temporary power supply for your builder to carry out works, or a permanent supply to your new home, you'll need to install a meter so you can be billed for the electricity you use.

To apply for a new meter, there must already be a connection to the electricity network available at the property, such as a service pillar (green dome). These are usually located just inside the property boundary.

The cost of a new meter

Please note, the ‘Installation of a new meter’ fixed charge will be included on your first bill.

All prices are correct as at 1 July 2023, include GST (except where noted otherwise), and are subject to change at any time.

About the application process

As part of the application process, you (or your electrical contractor) will need to provide:

  • An EnergySafety Notice of Completion number for a new installation
  • Your Customer Reference Number for each new meter to be connected
  • A valid electrical contractor licence

  • 12 weeks for work to commence following receipt of payment
