Apply for a rebate or finance
Household solar and battery power plays an important role in our energy future across regional WA. As a Community Wave member, get rewarded for supporting your community's energy network with your solar and battery assets.
These rewards include access to battery rebates that help reduce the upfront costs of investing in solar and battery. Or getting paid for excess solar energy exported back to the network during the day.

Get rewarded for supporting the energy network with your solar system

To help more households afford the upfront investment in purchasing a home battery system:
- the WA Government has launched the WA Residential Battery Scheme; and
- the Federal government has released the Cheaper Home Batteries scheme
The Rebate Schemes have been combined and expanded to allow more people to afford to invest in renewable energy assets.
Applications open from 1 July 2025.

The State and Federal Governments are making it easier to access the bill saving and community benefits of solar and battery sooner.
Battery Rebate
For eligible households, the WA Residential Battery Scheme offers up to $7,500 rebate for a 10kWh battery. For larger installations, including businesses, the Federal Cheaper Home Batteries program allows batteries between 5kWh and 100kWh with rebates varying based on capacity and eligibility.
Your battery quote will already have the rebate/s deducted - so you're not out of pocket. The installer will apply for the rebate directly through the program facilitator, Plenti. And the rebate is only paid to them once your installation is complete.
0% interest loans
Eligible households can access 0% interest loans of $2,001 to $10,000 for eligible batteries and solar panels, including upgrades and new or upgraded inverters, provided a battery is included in the installation.
Plenti will manage all applications, credit checks, approvals, loan repayments and take care of any other loan requirements during the life of the loan.

If you add a battery or install a larger system you won't miss out on buyback
As a Community Wave member, you'll still continue to be paid for any excess energy generated from your solar or battery assets during the day.
We use this to help balance the supply and demand as part of our VPP, Community Wave.

Your questions answered
-
I’ve moved into a house with solar. Am I eligible for a buyback scheme?
If you’re moving into a house that already has solar installed, please contact us so we can see if you’re eligible for one of these schemes and add it to your account.
Call us on 1800 267 926, between 8am and 5pm, weekdays.
-
How do I know if I’m receiving a buyback payment?
If you are receiving a buyback rate for energy exported back into our network, this will appear on your bill as a credit.
You can monitor how much energy you’re exporting online when you register with MyAccount.
-
Is the Renewable Energy Buyback Scheme (REBS) the same as DEBS?
DEBS officially replaced REBS in November 2020. The key difference between the two schemes is that DEBS introduced ‘time of export’ buyback rates for systems under 5kW and began offering buyback payments to energy exported from eligible home batteries and electric vehicles.
REBS is no longer available for new applications. If you are already exporting power and receiving the REBS buyback rate, you’ll stay on REBS, subject to the REBS terms and conditions. If you decide to change, upgrade or modify your system in the future, or you move into a home that already has solar installed, DEBS will apply, subject to the relevant terms and conditions.

Including no-interest finance. Plenti will be managing the rebate and they've made it simple to access and apply.
