Horizon Power, has announced an illuminating initiative to enhance street safety in Carnarvon.
The Carnarvon Safer Streets project, a collaborative effort with the Western Australian Police Force and the Shire of Carnarvon, represents a $200,000 investment from Horizon Power, in public safety and community well-being.
The initiative will replace 31 outdated streetlights and introduce 41 additional lights in the Brockman area, aiming to bolster night-time visibility, reduce anti-social behaviour, and foster a secure atmosphere for Carnarvon's residents. This proactive measure was inspired by the WA Police's proposal, following Horizon Power's successful lighting upgrade in Derby.
Mike Houlahan, Horizon Power's Chief Financial Officer, expressed the company's enthusiasm: "Collaborating with our community partners to achieve positive outcomes is a source of great pride for us. These efforts contribute to safer living spaces and the overall vibrancy of our communities."

Bringing the spark back to the Coffee Pot ☕ Our team of volunteers recently rolled up their sleeves at the Carnarvon Heritage Precinct to bring life back into the Coffee Pot - the beloved train that once ran out to the end of the One Mile Jetty and back during its glory days 🚂 Working alongside the Precinct team, they spent the day sanding, repainting and oiling posts to help breathe new life into this historic treasure, with the goal of transforming the Coffee Pot into fun children’s play equipment and keeping its story alive for generations to come. This project was made possible thanks to Horizon Power's Corporate Volunteer Program and we’re proud to support the Carnarvon Heritage Group in preserving and celebrating the region’s history and building vibrant communities.
