- Community Partnerships Program applications open for initiatives empowering regional communities
July 21 2025

Do you work for an organisation that enhances the lives of remote and regional Western Australians? If so, we encourage you to apply for a Horizon Power Community Partnership, with applications now open for the latest round of the program.
On behalf of the State Government, the program provides $1.1 million each financial year to initiatives that support vibrancy in our remote and regional communities. Since 2020, we’ve proudly awarded over $5 million to more than 560 initiatives in regional WA.
The program supports not-for-profit organisations, Aboriginal Controlled Community Organisations, Prescribed Body Corporates and Local Governments that enhance the lives of those residing within our service area, which includes the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Mid West, Esperance and Goldfields regions.
Typical partnership recipients range from regional sporting associations and cultural and music events to arts and educational programs for school-aged children.
Horizon Power Acting Chief Executive Officer, Krystal Skinner, said the program was focused on initiatives in the regions that “have a strong community impact and are accessible to many”.
“Here at Horizon Power, we are committed to supporting the unique needs of those living in regional and remote Western Australia. Our Community Partnerships Program represents the important connection we have to the local communities in which we work, live and play.”
“I really encourage organisations that are making a difference in their community to apply. All applications are carefully considered, ensuring that every initiative or organisation we partner with has a meaningful impact on the communities we serve.”
“In May, Horizon Power proudly awarded $546,300 to 72 successful recipients across our State. We know that events are important in our communities, and we were delighted to be able to support regional events such as the Spinifex Spree, which starts on Friday, July 25 in Port Hedland, last weekend’s Winter Wonderland in Esperance and the Boab Festival, which was held earlier this month in Derby.”
Other recipients included the Pilbara Community Men’s Shed for upgrades to their Karratha facilities, St John Ambulance for their Warnkarunku Wellbeing Walkabout Day in Leonora and funding to support the purchase of sporting equipment for the Gascoyne Football Association.
“We look forward to receiving the next round of applications and learning more about the positive impact these initiatives will have on our regions,” Ms Skinner said.
“By investing in these programs, we hope to empower communities to lead innovative projects that bring social, environmental and economic benefits, bolstering resilience and vibrancy in their communities.”
Community partnership funding ranges from $1,000 to $10,000 for eligible organisations, with up to $50,000 available for multi-region initiatives or major events.

Don’t delay, as applications for the latest round of partnerships will close on 22 August 2025. Successful recipients will be announced in October 2025.
