Hardship Utilities Grant Scheme

You could be eligible for help through the Department of Communities Hardship Utilities Grant Scheme (HUGS). Depending on where you live and if you meet the eligibility criteria, you could receive up to $960 of assistance per financial year.  

If you're eligible, we can get the HUGS application process started on your behalf.

Do you receive Centrelink payments?

Centrepay is a free direct bill-paying service offered to customers receiving Centrelink payments.

You may also be eligible for an energy concession, rebate or subsidy.

Our dedicated Customer Relationship Officers are here to help you get back in control of your energy bill. They may be able to:

  • Check if you’re eligible for any concessions, subsidies or payment arrangements. 
  • Discuss if Centrepay is right for you. 
  • Check if you are eligible for the HUGS financial hardship payment.
  • Put you in touch with a financial counsellor.
