Under the Town Reserves Regularisation Program (TRRP) phase three, the Department of Housing has contracted Horizon Power to audit, design and undertake electricity network upgrades for the West Kimberley communities of Looma and Mowanjum.
The Energy Efficiency Program (EEP) is being implemented in five Aboriginal communities in 2011: Bondini, Nambi Road, Ninga Mia, Wongatha and Yungngora. Horizon Power manages EEP for the WA Government's Public Utilities Office. EEP involves the installation or repair of insulation, hot water systems and shade cloth on housing in the communities. Lagging on hot water systems and low-flow shower heads are being installed, and air conditioners are being repaired.
The Kalumburu component of the Aboriginal and Remote Community Power Project (ARCPSP) phase two is designed to provide residents with a safe, reliable, high quality energy solution.
Marble Bar's Pippunyah Power Station and the nearby Nullagine Power Station combine state-of-the-art technology to deliver clean energy to two of the country's hottest towns. The power stations incorporate a single axis tracking solar farm with diesel technology and an energy storage system. This combination of technology can provide high levels of solar energy penetration and a reliable supply of power to the town.
The Pilbara Underground Power Project is being implemented by Horizon Power with funding from the State Government, through Royalties for Regions and Local Government. It involves the provision of underground power supplies in the Karratha region to improve safety, security and reliability of supplies.
