Horizon Power collects, uses and discloses personal information in accordance with the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA) (PRIS Act), Horizon Power’s Privacy Policy and other applcable legislation.
This Collection Notice explains how we collect and use your personal information.
Why we collect your personal information
Horizon Power collects personal information that is reasonably necessary to perform its functions and activities, including to:
- provide, manage and maintain electricity supply and related services
- establish and administer customer accounts, billing, payments and concessions
- respond to enquiries, complaints and service requests
- meet safety, compliance, regulatory and reporting obligations
- plan, operate and improve electricity infrastructure and services
- communicate with you about outages, planned works or changes to services
- share information responsibly where authorised or required by law.
If the requested information is not provided, Horizon Power may not be able to provide some or all services to you.
What personal information we collect
The personal information collected by Horizon Power may include:
- your name, address and contact details
- date of birth or identification information
- account, billing and payment details
- concession or eligibility information
- correspondence and enquiry records
- electricity usage, meter and technical service information.
How we collect personal information
Personal information is collected directly from you where possible, including through forms, online services, telephone calls and correspondence. In some circumstances, information may be collected from third parties or government agencies where authorised or required by law.
How we use and disclose personal information
Horizon Power uses and discloses personal information only for the purpose for which it was collected (or a directly related purpose), unless otherwise authorised or required by law.
Your personal information may be disclosed to:
- Horizon Power employees and authorised contractors
- service providers engaged to perform functions on Horizon Power’s behalf
- regulators, government agencies or law enforcement bodies where required or authorised by law
- other parties with your consent, or under approved information sharing arrangements.
Horizon Power takes reasonable steps to ensure that any third parties handling personal information do so in a manner consistent with our Privacy Policy.
Access, correction and privacy complaints
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request corrections if the information is inaccurate or incomplete
- Lodge a complaint if you believe your privacy has been mishandled.
