With a net profit of $35.4 million and a reduction in its State Government subsidy 16 months ahead of target, Horizon Power’s performance is benefiting Western Australian taxpayers.
Operating efficiencies introduced following a strategic review in 2013 have resulted in the positive performance reported in the organisation’s Annual Report tabled in State Parliament today.
Horizon Power Chief Executive Officer Frank Tudor said the positive result was achieved without compromising customer service, safety or reliability.
“We are continually improving power supply and reducing the average time customers are without power,” said Mr Tudor.
“Our customer satisfaction levels have notably increased from the previous year which shows we are on the right track.
“Highlights of our safety performance include zero lost time injuries in the Pilbara Grid operations and our primary contractor achieving one million hours working on Horizon Power projects without a recordable injury.”
Horizon Power has delivered on a number of strategic projects including the Power Ahead tariff reform pilot enabling greater customer control over power bills, power infrastructure for the Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory and advanced metering for all customers, with the metering project alone saving more than $7.5 million per annum.
