This Scheme provides a subsidy to compensate financially disadvantaged persons for the electricity costs of operating life support equipment at home. More specifically, the Scheme is aimed at people who are dependent on specified life support equipment used in their homes under specialist medical advice and are holders of concession cards that are means tested.
Further information on this subsidy, administered by the Office of State Revenue, is available here.
In providing a better customer service, Horizon Power offers an opportunity for customers to indicate whether they have life support equipment operating at their premise. If you have applied and qualified for the Life Support Equipment Electricity Subsidy, this will automatically occur.
If you wish to register, the following application form can be downloaded and submitted to Horizon Power by post or fax. On receipt of this application form a record will be made on your customer account. This information is important to us in the event of a power interruption which may affect the supply to your premise.
It is necessary to renew your application with us every 12 months.
The State Government has introduced a new power bill subsidy for West Australians who suffer from chronic medical conditions which prevents them from controlling their own body temperature. This subsidy helps pay for domestic heating or cooling systems.
The new $335 annual subsidy is enough to pay for the operation of a room-sized reverse cycle air-conditioner for six hours every day of the year.
The Office of State Revenue administers the scheme. Application forms, medical guidelines and more information are available here.
