In May 2004, the Western Australian Government introduced the Power Price Equity Scheme for Permanent Caravan Park Residents.
The purpose of the Scheme is to ensure that permanent residents pay the same as other domestic customers for their power and be eligible for energy rebates.
The key components of the Scheme are:
The State Government recognises that caravan parks in the North West Interconnected System (from Karratha to Port Hedland) and regional off-grid power systems may be disadvantaged if they are paying business tariffs higher than the residential tariff. As a result, Horizon Power has developed the Caravan Park Tariff Compensation Program. For details refer to the Tariff Compensation Program below.
Horizon Power and the Office of Energy representatives worked with a number of key stakeholders during the implementation phase including the Caravan Industry Australia (WA) and the Park Home Owners' Association.
