Tree and Vegetation Management
Trees and branches are a major cause of power failures as they can fall across powerlines during high winds. This is particularly true in regional areas, where powerlines are longer and there is a lot of natural bushland, posing a bushfire risk.

As a general rule, trees should be no closer than three metres from powerlines. Councils are generally responsible for trimming trees along verges and road reserves. Property residents, including tenants, are responsible for trimming trees. However, tree trimming can be dangerous, so please do not carry out any work yourself.
If you notice trees other than those on your property that may need to be trimmed, please contact your local council office or Horizon Power office .
Horizon Power strongly recommends you hire a professional tree-trimming contractor to trim any trees, palms or tall bushes on your property. They will have the correct insurance and processes in place.
