The Photovoltaic Rebate Program (PVRP) is a Commonwealth Government initiative that provides funding to assist in the purchase of photovoltaic (PV or solar) power systems serving households and community buildings. In Western Australia, the Sustainable Energy Development Office administers the PVRP on behalf of the Australian Greenhouse Office.
The objectives of the PVRP are to encourage the long-term use of PV technology, reduce greenhouse emissions, assist in the development of the Australian PV industry and increase awareness of renewable energy.
The Renewable Remote Power Generation Program (RRPGP) is a program funded by the Commonwealth Government that provides up to 50% subsidies on the capital cost of renewable energy technology for people who are not connected to the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) OR to a natural gas-fired town grid.
For more information about these Programs, please contact the Sustainable Energy Development Office on (08) 9420 5600.
For general information about photovoltaic power systems, renewable energy, household energy use and reducing electricity and gas consumption call the SEDO Energy Smart Line on 1300 658 158.
Independent technical information on PV power systems is available at http://wwwphys.murdoch.edu.au/WebRAPS/frameset.htm or from the Advisory Officer, Murdoch University Energy Research Institute, on (08) 9360 6330.
