Your Electricity Meter Location

Your meter must be in an accessible position for Horizon Power reading and service purposes.

  • In a multiple unit development, your meter may be located at the respective unit.
  • Access to the meter must be provided without the necessity to enter any neighbouring properties. Also, meters should not be located within the carport.
  • For buildings on corner properties, the meter should be located along the principle frontage.

If your electrical licensed contractor is not sure about the position of the meter enclosure, point of attachment or customer's pole, then a request for an Horizon Power ruling must be included in the "First Notice". If a customer's pole is necessary (for road crossing or clearance) then that pole may be shared by your neighbour, provided you make mutually acceptable arrangements for its position and provide written confirmation to Horizon Power.
