Deregulation means that energy generators and retailers are able to compete with Horizon Power to sell and supply electricity to Western Australian domestic and business customers if they wish to do so. The new market provides for competition in the generation and retailing of electricity in a similar way to that experienced with the telecommunications market. As a result, you may now able to choose the energy retailer you buy electricity from.
Further information on the deregulation of the Western Australian electricity market, which came into effect on 1 April 2006 is available here.
