As well as posting current vacancies on our website, we also advertise in major national and local newspapers and on online job boards such as SEEK. Occasionally we will use a recruitment agency to assist us.
Horizon Power encourages online applications for advertised roles.
We are unable to contact each candidate personally because of the high volume of resumes we receive daily. We will acknowledge receipt of your application by email and advise if any suitable roles exist. If your skills and experience match the requirements for our open positions, a member of our recruitment team will contact you to discuss the next step in the recruitment process. We continually update our current openings, so please visit our website often.
Interviews usually run for approximately 90 minutes and consist of behavioural interviewing questions as well as role-specific questions. We like to keep the discussions with candidates informal to give the process a more relaxed and comfortable feel. Your interview will be conducted by the Formal Leader and up to 2 other people selected for their ability to assist in the decision.
A member of our recruitment team will access your resume and application, and you may be contacted to discuss the specific vacancy for which you have applied. Alternatively, you may be considered for other positions your particular skills match, even though you may not have directly applied for those positions. You will be notified via email if your application has been unsuccessful.
Horizon Power maintains a database of interested and suitably qualified/experienced candidates to contact when appropriate roles emerge. If you would prefer us not to keep your details on our database, please let us know when you contact us via email.
Firstly, we look for candidates who have skills, qualifications and experience relevant to the role that is vacant. Secondly, we look for candidates who are a good cultural fit to the team, and to Horizon Power. Depending on the role, we may look specifically for candidates with relevant energy industry experience, but this is not always the case.
We are very interested to hear from people with an electrical trade, linesperson experience or an electrical engineering background at any time. Like any other large business we also recruit across a range of areas including: administration, Information Technology, finance, etc.
If you have the right to work in Australia you are welcome to apply for any current vacancies. Horizon Power does not sponsor candidates who are not eligible to work in Australia.
Horizon Power undertakes a graduate recruitment program each year with an aim to make offers by the end of June. Advertising for graduate positions will usually take place in May/June at university campuses and on our website.
The Formal Leader is responsible for the recruitment process. He/she is supported by a Recruitment Administrator to assist in organising advertising and managing the applications. Sometimes the Formal Leader will utilise the services of a recruitment agency to supply temporary, contract and permanent employees.
At the first interview, you will be asked for an indication of your salary expectations with regard to the role. Roles are benchmarked to ensure our salary packages remain market competitive.
